Well I am 3 days away from saying good by to the 20s and hello to the 30s! Normally birthdays are not a big deal to me but for some reason this one is harder for me to deal with. I remember all the things I wanted to do before I thought of myself as being old (not that 30 is old) but you know what I mean. There is a distinct difference in perception when you hear that someone is 30. They are surely grown up by then and responsible. I consider myself grown up as anyone with a mortgage should and I have always been responsible but now it is expected. I guess that means I missed out on the excused time to act like a fool and not think about the repercussions. Oh well…I am a pretty relaxed guy so I don’t think I missed out on much. I have had my share of fun and have done a lot of things before Friday. I think part of the problem I am having is that most of the people we are around on a daily basis are under 30 and their constant harassment of being old for some reason has weighed on me…normally I could care less about other’s comments.
Oh well…turning 30 won’t be too bad, after all I still look like I am in my 20s! I actually had a door-to-door sales person ask me last night if my parents were home! Always good to see their face when I say that I own the home (even if I won’t actually own it for 30 more years!). They pretty much know they will not be making a sale at that point but they still go through the routine and try their hardest. This time it was cleaner and since she seemed shocked that I could own the home I decided to point out that I don’t really do any cleaning, and that we hired someone to do that…the shock on her face at that point made my week! I think the best part is that I had worked from home all day and had on sweat pants and a Threadless shirt with King Kong on the front.
Well I hope you all have a great week and I will let you know how the weekend goes and if being 30 is actually different than just being 29!
